We hosted two big gatherings early this month so I kept my patriotic theme going until the last one was over. Both events were out in the orchard and it was lovely to eat under the trees. We found a way to seat 30 or so in a line of tables that made one inviting scene but with easy access between. My table clothes are red and white and the centerpieces were just taken from the house. I went to the Dollar Store and purchased small buckets in red/white/blue for totes and used the same colors for napkins and utensils and that completes the look.
Three of our kids were here for the weekend before the party and they took apart my living room to do a makeover. It had been brown paneling that, with a little mud, paint and chair rail trim, became quite a nice room. We used a neutral green on top and white on the bottom. My accent color is dark red. The adjacent dining room will most likely go white on top and dark red on the bottom. We shall see.
I have been thinking for some time of putting together design patterns to simplify decorating and event planning. I like to have a few good design elements that can be used several times a year, changing with the seasons by adding inexpensive season specific items. Since I use 12 Days of Christmas as my December theme, it was a natural to title this 12 Months of Design.

June
June is now fully in process. I guess I need to count months not days or weeks. We have already passed Flag Day and graduation, my birthday and Father's Day is next week. I have been working on a color wheel for the year. This puts order to my thoughts and also gives me ideas for using items I have in several different ways.
We are fertilizing our garden but the rain came upon us and we had to come in. The Northwest in having a cool spring but this is not too unusual. We just don't experience Summer until it actually comes on the calendar later this month.
